A New York native, Dancer Annastasia Mercedes graduated summa cum laude from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, with a B.F.A. in Ballet and Dance Pedagogy. Under the direction of Stephen Pier, she was privileged to study under extraordinary artists including Nina Watt, Hilda Morales, Yasuko Toskunaga, Samantha Dunster, Tim Melady, Debra Collins-Ryder, and Ralph Perkins. She passionately shares the art of dance through performing and teaching within the community. Her emphasis in versatility and purity of movement is derived from her diverse performing experiences in dance and theatre. Her performing credits include works by Jose Límon, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Anthony Tudor, George Balanchine, Pascal Rioult, Gregory Dolbashian, Martin Losfnes, Charlotte Griffin and Chris Ferris. She has appeared in Hartford Stage's The Crucible, as well as The Tempest under the direction of Darko Tresnjak, and performed the featured role as Eliza in The King and I. Currently you can find her in NYC working with the students of The Joffrey Ballet School, Peridance, Rioult Dance NYC’s DanceREACH and Ballet Tech.
