About Mapping the Heart
Mapping the Heart is an evolving four-part interdisciplinary dance project that explores how the human heart experiences wounding, connection, and transformation, mapping the unseen emotional and energetic landscapes that shape our lives. Rooted in research on heart–brain coherence and inspired by Eastern philosophy, energy practices, and the art of Kintsugi, the work examines how fragmentation can become a gateway to healing and wholeness. The project began with Broken, a solo developed through dance film and live performance exploring the heart's capacity to close and reopen, and has continued through a duet investigating duality, resonance, and the interplay between connection and disconnection, presented in both festival and studio contexts including collaborations with organizations such as ArtHouse Productions and the American Dance Guild. The current trio, Weaving, expands this inquiry into collective space, revealing how subtle relationships, timing, and shared presence create emergent connection between individuals. Alongside its staged works, Mapping the Heart lives as an ongoing community and creative process through online gatherings and participatory experiences, positioning the project not only as performance, but as a living exploration of how we heal, relate, and reawaken the deeper intelligence of the heart.
